What a PDA can do?

So, what are the resources provided by a PDA? Why palmtops have become so popular?

Since this device is multifunctional, its purpose and use can be very broad. Let’s list its main functions.

A personal organizer. A pocket-size computer is very handy for carrying it with you instead of a paper notebook or datebook. You can easily save there all the needed addresses, phone numbers, notes, to-do lists, schedules and appointments. Moreover, you can cross link all your data so as to make it even quicker and handier to find all you need at the right moment. Also you can always synchronize your PDA with your PC and save the backup copy of your data there to minimize the risk of its loss.
An e-reader. Small devices with wide liquid-crystal displays have been fast adopted by the e-reading lovers. Today there are a lot of books in various digital formats, and it is very comfortable to read them on palmtops. Of course, there exist devices designed especially and only for e-reading, but while completing their only function perfectly, they are usually bigger and more expensive than PDAs, and they don’t support so many digital text formats.
A portable typewriter. This function is very helpful for journalists and writers. A palmtop is lighter than a laptop, and its battery life is much longer. You can easily enter text with a stylus, either pressing the keys of a virtual keyboard, or using the handwriting. If you write letters in a special way, a PDA will swimmingly recognize your text.
A device for storing, viewing and managing pictures, with the help of which you can always carry your digital photo album with you and browse your favourite photos whenever and wherever you like.
An MP3 player. Palmtops support all the main widespread music formats. It’s very comfortable to store and listen to the music on these devices.
A game device. There are plenty of games for handhelds: strategies, shooters, puzzles, arcade games and whatever you like. Also with the help of special emulator programs you can launch on your PDA games originally designed for game consoles.
A connected PDA is also perfect for e-mailing and browsing the Web.
It can serve as an electronic dictionary and translator, a  remote-control station, and an engineering calculator, as well.
At the same time, PDAs are not good for editing publications, for 3D modelling and professional work with graphics, because the screen size is too small and the resolution too low for these purposes.
